Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging (EDIB)
Educator and Consultant
"As an experienced and outspoken advocate for the causes of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB), I believe in a proactive and practical approach. To celebrate and promote EDIB is more than just a mission statement on the company's website or the burden placed on a designated diversity committee. Institutional leadership must commit to doing conscious and continuous work to actively fight against systemic racism and inequity, while holding every level of organization accountable for its progress. Acknowledging that the American Theatre is a predominately White and, therefore, inherently racist art form is the first step to dismantling and rebuilding our industry. As leaders and educators, we have the opportunity and crucial responsibility to recognize the oppressed and underrepresented communities in the space, to make room for them at the table, and to uplift their voices and works. Only then can we began the long process of healing and re-creating a more equitable and inclusive artistic community where ALL artists feel like they belong. We owe it to the our future generations of theatre makers and artists.
I am proud to be offering my EDIB consulting services and partnering with several local Bay Area theatre companies to help rebuild their organizational structure to become anti-racist, and more inclusive and welcoming. Some companies that I am currently serving or have served in the past are: South Bay Musical Theatre, Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory, Hillbarn Theatre, and 42nd Street Moon. Please use the contact button below to connect with me for a personalized EDIB consultation. I look forward to working with your organization to fully embrace and incorporate EDIB into all aspects of your work."
